Getting Started Using Web Factory
File Menu Features

New
Displays the New box, which allows you to create a new file of one of the following types:
Web Page Frame Page
Displays an empty "preview" window, which allows you to type the text of your Web page and insert elements such as hypertext links, images, and so forth.

The preview window is what we call "WYSIWYG" or What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get. That is, what you see as you create a Web page in Web Factory is what you will get when the page is actually displayed in a Web browser--with no HTML tags to be seen.

Web Factory will preview the page according to how Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer will display the page. Web Factory defaults to the Netscape Navigator preview, but you can change the default.

Displays the New Frame Page box, which allows you to select an initial frame layout from the two frames or three frames designs provided.
  1. Click the layout design that you want and Web Factory displays the frame layout that you selected.

You can alter the design, if desired (see Related Topics below).

  2. Assign a Web page to be displayed in each frame.

Do this by clicking inside the frame and selecting to insert "A link to another Web page."

Web Factory displays the Link to another Web Page box, allowing you to select the page that will appear in this frame.

  3. After you click OK, the URL of the page you selected appears in the frame.

The assigned Web pages will not display in this window. You must view the frame page in the Test View to see the results.

Note: If you are working with a browser that does not support frames, any text or images you insert into this preview window will appear in lieu of frames when viewing in that browser.

Displays the New Image Resolution box, which allows you to determine the size and background color of the new image. Web Factory defaults to a 640 x 480 size window (that is, 640 pixels across by 480 pixels down) with a background color of orange. You can change the size by typing in new dimensions in the Width and Height boxes. You can change the color by clicking in the color box and selecting a different color from the Color Pallet that appears. After you have selected the size and background color of the new image and clicked OK, an empty window of the selected size and background color appears on the screen, and all of the image-editing menus and tools become available. You can now draw on the new image, load objects into the new image window, or cut and paste parts of another image into the window.
